So Fantastic Four wasn’t the massive pile of wank that I was anticipating it to be. But I guess that’s because I was anticipating it to be a massive pile of wank. But upon reflection, it really wasn’t all that great. The storyline was rewritten, loosely based on the original script. The actors were not outstanding and the overall feel to it was just… mild. For a superhero movie, there really wasn’t all that much action. There weren’t any punchlines that we’re so accustomed to with Marvel movies which make superhero movies easy to watch and enjoy. Fantastic Four was lacking in qualities in every area. The background stories of the characters were original and as if we had already known from before, so there was no real development or growing with the audience. The reception of the characters had no depth, making the movie not all that interesting to engage with.
Miles Teller was outstanding in “Whiplash” so I was expecting plenty more, but was sadly let down. The rest of the main cast are relatively young and show promise in other movies, with Michael B Jordan in mind for the upcoming “Creed”, but regardless, the cast for the original Fantastic Four Marvel movie franchise was a lot more likable to watch, despite the movies also being terrible.
The moment that I was waiting for was the revealing of their “team name” and character names which I felt they were obliged to cram in during the final minutes of the movie. It probably should have made me cringe more, but like I said, I was expecting a massive pile of wank anyway.
Verdict: as shit as Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie. But shit in its own way
